Team Registration

Register your team to compete in the Global Youth Sevens, one of the world’s premier international Under-18 rugby sevens tournaments. Held annually, the event brings together elite youth teams from across New Zealand, Australia and around the globe, providing a platform for the next generation of rugby stars to showcase their talent on an international stage.

To secure your place in the tournament, simply follow the three-step registration process. Start by registering your team, then book your tournament accommodation, and finally confirm your booking to complete your entry. All teams begin by clicking the Register button below to create their account and begin the process.

Step 1: Register Your Team

Start by creating your team account, register your team, providing contact details and registration payment. All new team registrations to Auckland require prior approval by the Tournament Director – please email your team registration request to info@globalyouthsevens.rugby

Step 2: Book Your Accommodation

All International and Out of State (Australia) teams are required to stay in the official tournament accommodation. All other teams are able to also stay at the tournament accommoation.

Once your team is registered, you’ll be guided through selecting and booking accommodation packages for players and staff at our partnered accomodation providers, ensuring all teams are located close to tournament venues and transport.

Step 3: Confirm Your Booking

Review your team details, regsister your team on Rugby Explorer, accommodation selections, and complete all payments to secure your spot in the Global Youth Sevens tournament. Once confirmed, your team will receive official confirmation and further tournament information.

What is the team registration fee?

Sunshine Coast – $1400 AUD (incl. taxes)

Auckland – $2200 NZD (incl. taxes)

What are the age requirements for each grade?

Sunshine Coast

The following applies to both the boys and girls grades:

  • U14 = born 2013 or 2012
  • U16 = born 2011 or 2010
  • U18 = born 2009 or 2008

Auckland

  • Boys – all players must be under 18 years old from January 1st of the year of the tournament. Players must be 16, 17 and 18 at the time of the tournament. No 15 or 19 year olds. No exceptions.
  • Girls – all players must be under 18 years old from January 1st of the year of the tournament. Players must be 16, 17 and 18 at the time of the tournament and 15 year olds may play with tournament director approval. No 19 year olds.

How many players per teams?

A minimum of 12 and maximum of 14 players. Twelve (12) selected players can play each game.

Can a school or composite team attend?

An individual school can attend. Due to the strength of the competition we do encourage national teams or composite teams.

Do we have to use the Tournament accommodation?

Yes, all International and Out of State (Australia) teams are required to book Tournament prebooked accommodation. 

The tournament has secured preferential pricing for the teams hence the requirement to stay at the secured venues.

Where do teams stay?

Sunshine Coast – We have prebooked accommodation with various providers, depending on your teams requirements, options will be made available with our booking agent at the time of booking.

Auckland – We have options at private school hostels, and hotel accommodation.

Are there additional activities for teams outside of the actual tournament?

Yes, we have organised practice games, an official welcome, team cultural night and team activities arranged.
